Our 1992 move to larger quarters on Wiley Road offered many opportunities for the ministries of our church. An alert, servant hearted group seized on a new plan for potluck dinners to bring us all together while feeding heart and soul in fellowship.
Their goal has been maintained: gathering people together with no program or cause other than time to talk and break bread together.
The initial weekly dinners settled into a monthly routine on the fourth Wednesday. During the months when other opportunities are available or personal schedules are especially full, Fourth Wednesday Dinners are not held: June features our Anniversary Lunch, November is for Harvest Dinner, and December fills with our focus on Christmas.
Continuing the original plan, on each of the remaining months, hosts are invited to organize, usually around a theme. Volunteers setup, cook and cleanup. We have enjoyed soup suppers, pizza, German or Italian themes, Mexican fiesta, fish, and other menus famous to the chef.
The Fourth Wednesday Committee recruits hosts and provides support with publicity, reservations, volunteer staffing and other resources.
You are eagerly invited to participate. We offer you plenty of opportunities for making short work with many hands while enjoying another layer of Fourth Wednesday fellowship. Volunteer hosts are needed to fill the calendar, kitchen crew, setup and take down volunteers are needed, and other duties are available.
And, of course most of all, you are warmly invited to attend!
